New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convener and former chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday accused the Central Government of failing to keep its promise of giving OBC status to the Jat community of the national capital. He wrote a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard and urged the NDA government to provide the OBC status to the Jats without any further delay. Later, addressing a press conference, Kejriwal reminded the BJP leadership that the party has promised the OBC status to Jats at least four times in the last ten years but never fulfilled it. “While Jats are included in the OBC list of the Delhi state government, they are not included as OBCs in the Central list. As a result, while the Jats of neighbouring Rajasthan can get reservation in jobs and admission in Central Government controlled Central Universities, Delhi Police, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) etc, the Jats of Delhi are denied the benefit. If the Central Government does not give the Jats of Delhi in its OBC list, AAP will launch a movement,” stressed Kejriwal.
