Tippers and dumpers set to come with mandatory load covers from April 2027

If the rules issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) are enforced, the trucks carrying loads in the open will become something of the past. From April next year, load-covering systems and in-cabin alerts for all tippers and dumpers will become mandatory.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has introduced new safety requirements for tippers and dumpers. If the regulations come into effect, it will make it mandatory for these vehicles to have a system that covers their loads while travelling on public roads. The new regulation will come into effect from April 1, 2027.

The ministry issued the notification on July 28, 2026, under the Central Motor Vehicles (Twelfth Amendment) Rules, 2026. It was subsequently published in the Gazette of India on........
