Porsche confirms that ICE Macan is coming back; no all-electric 911

Porsche has confirmed that it is bringing back the ICE version of the Macan. It has also confirmed that there is no plans for giving any type of electrification for the 911.

New Delhi: Ever since Michael Leiters took the reins at Porsche in January, his efforts have been to make the case that the automaker should not abandon ICE-powered cars in its push toward electrification. Rather than choosing between combustion engines and EVs, Leiters wants Porsche to offer both, depending on what customers and individual vehicle segments demand.

During a recent interaction with the Financial Times, Leiters confirmed that Porsche plans to introduce a combustion-powered Macan in 2028. The ICE model is expected to sit alongside the existing electric Macan. This would give buyers a choice between the two powertrains. At the same time, Porsche’s wider EV program remains in development.

Leiters rejects the idea that this approach makes him an opponent of electric vehicles. He argues that Porsche’s strategy is about correcting its product mix and controlling costs rather than reversing its commitment to electrification.

The upcoming ICE Macan is a central part of that strategy.........
