Bugatti wants its V16 to scream out loud to retain character

Bugatti might have retired the W16 but it still wants its sound to come out from the V16 that is powering the Tourbillon. New videos show how much work went into getting the notes of the engine right.

New Delhi: The W16 has been replaced by a V16 after being the power source for more than two decades and the highlight of Molsheim.The W16 went out of production a couple of months ago following the final Mistral, officially pulling the curtains on the mill having made its debut with the Veyron and then passed on to the Chiron. 

For most manufacturers, replacing a 16-cylinder with another would be almost unthinkable, especially given how today’s automotive industry stands. Bugatti, however, has taken exactly that approach with the Tourbillon. Its new 8.3-litre naturally aspirated V16, developed........
