Owaisi, Humayun Kabir join hands for Bengal polls, set to challenge Mamata Banerjee’s Muslim vote bank

Humayun Kabir had earlier fallen out with chief minister Mamata Banerjee over the issue of laying the foundation of a Babri Masjid-like structure in Murshidabad, after which he was expelled from the Trinamool Congress.

New Delhi: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday announced that his party will contest the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections in alliance with Humayun Kabir’s Janta Unnayan Party. Owaisi said he will hold a joint press conference with Kabir in Kolkata on March 25, though details of the seat-sharing arrangement are yet to be finalised.
