Kolkata: One of the most diversified industrial groups of India, the Tatas were being led by N Chandrasekharan, who announced his decision to step down from the top position of the group on Wednesday. Chandra, as he is referred to within the group decided to hang up his boots after almost a decade. In his resignation letter, Chandrasekaran explained why he was denied another term. But the question now is who will take over the reins of Tata Sons? Amid furious speculation, a report in Fortune, said if the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) ultimately insists on an IPO of the holding company — the central bank has said that upper layer NBFCs have to list within three years — Noel Tata may opt for reconstituting the Tata Sons board and take over as chairman.
