Among all Monday fasts, the Solah Somvar Vrat, observed for 16 consecutive Mondays, holds special importance in Hindu tradition.

Begin the fast with a sacred resolve

Traditionally, devotees begin the Somvar Vrat on the first Monday of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) during auspicious Hindu months such as Shravan, Chaitra, Vaishakha, Jyeshtha, Kartik, or Margashirsha. However, many devotees also begin the fast on any Monday with sincere faith.
