UAE agrees to rejoin Yemen conflict as Houthi advances alarm Saudi Arabia

The UAE will resume financial support for anti-Houthi forces in Yemen, reportedly in return for Saudi air cover, as the two Gulf allies seek to counter the Iran-aligned group's gains.

New Delhi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has agreed to re-enter the Yemen conflict by resuming financial support for forces fighting the Iran-aligned Houthi movement, and under the reported arrangement, Saudi Arabia will provide air cover for the southern Yemeni forces.

The agreement marks a possible improvement in relations between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which fell out over their competing interests in Yemen. The renewed cooperation comes as Houthi forces make gains on the ground and step up missile and drone attacks on Saudi territory and infrastructure.
