New Delhi: Pakistan carried out fresh airstrikes inside Afghanistan early Monday, killing at least three people and injuring four others, according to Afghan authorities. The strikes targeted areas in the eastern Afghan provinces of Kunar and Paktika as tensions between Islamabad and Kabul escalated again.

Afghan officials said a house in Nurgal district of Kunar was hit, killing three members of the same family. Four others were injured. Pakistan, meanwhile, said the operation targeted alleged militant hideouts. Pakistani security sources claimed that militants were killed, but those claims could not be independently verified.
