Bangladesh Nationalist Party chief Tarique Rahman took the oath as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh at the Jatiya Sangsad on Tuesday, February 17.
New Delhi: Bangladesh Nationalist Party chief Tarik Rahman took the oath as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh at the Jatiya Sangsad on Tuesday, February 17. The BNP formed the government after nearly two decades. Tarique returned from a 17-year exile to lead his party and ultimately won the Bangladesh National Election on February 12.
Tarique, taking the oath of office, witnesses a male leader taking the reins after 36 years. Bangladesh is currently in a critical phase in every aspect, and with the newly elected PM, it will be interesting to see how Tarique will lead Bangladesh.
Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman will serve as the leader of the opposition in the 13th Bangladesh Parliament. While the convenor of the National Citizens Party (NCP), Nahid Islam, has been named as the Chief Whip of the Opposition.
