New Delhi: NASA has awarded the contract for the launch of the Pandora satellite to characterise the atmospheres of exoplanets to SpaceX. During the course of the year-long primary mission, the small satellite will peer into 20 stars known to host transiting exoplanets, or exoplanets that cross the host star from the vantage point of the Earth. During these transits, Pandora will use multiwavelength observations to investigate the light from the host stars, as well as this light passing through the atmospheres of exoplanets.
