During Wang Yi’s meeting with EAM Jaishankar, Beijing committed to resolving restrictions on tunnel boring machines critical for India’s infrastructure projects, ending the freeze on rare earth magnets essential for electric vehicles and renewable energy, and resuming specialty fertiliser exports vital for agricultural productivity. These assurances, coming after months of Chinese export curbs that threatened to stall India’s project and manufacturing ambitions, represent Beijing’s calculated move to rebuild economic trust.

Multiple threads intertwine here: the resumption of direct flights, possible agreements on border trade, and the long-stalled process of troop disengagement along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
