The Issue: Concerns over Mayor Mamdani’s rhetoric and attacks like last week’s Upper West Side stabbing.

Mayor Mamdani’s weak, half-hearted sympathies after each antisemitic attack serve a dual purpose, putting up a defense against critics while giving a wink to his pro-Palestinian supporters, assuring them he doesn’t stand in their way (“Stop Pushing Hate, Zo,” Editorial, July 25).

The language he uses is very precisely chosen, usually prefaced by the common phrase, “there is no place in our city for,” as if that will scare off offenders.

It’s hard to believe we have an elected official in our city with so much hate inside of him. Most of that hate is toward the Jewish people.

The stabbing of Yezhak Grunhaus was a hate crime. Our mayor is part of this problem. Any Jewish person who voted for this antisemitic man should be ashamed of themselves. Mamdani’s actions and words have no place in our society.
