Mideast beat: Incredible Shrinking Gaza Famine

In July, a UNICEF-led team’s report not only found “no widespread acute malnutrition” in Gaza, notes The Free Press’ Olivia Reingold, it also showed Gaza “has one of the lowest rates of acute child malnutrition in the region.” Indeed, the strip’s current health challenge is “obesity and weight excess, which affect a combined 4 percent of children under the age of 5.” Only a year ago, the UN’s hunger-monitoring system warned “more than half a million Palestinians were ‘facing catastrophic conditions characterized by starvation, destitution, and death.’” Humanitarian groups just can’t seem to explain the reversal, but a “major organization is still fundraising” on the starvation claim, and news of the UN report “has been hard to find in the mainstream press.”  

Libertarian: Trump’s Right on Data Centers

“It’s a tough time to be a data center,” observes Robby Soave at The Hill.  A “vital part” of the tech economy, they’ve “suffered a complete collapse” of public support, even though they’re “economic boons.” Heck, “they generate so much money” for Loudoun County, Va., “that the local government was able to cut everybody else’s property taxes.” President Trump “frequently touts their benefits,” and he’s right.
