WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump marked Labor Day with a partisan greeting that named his opponents before it named American workers, casting the November midterm elections as a last stand against people he said want to ruin the country.

"Happy Labor Day to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics, Communists, and Dumocrats who will do anything possible to destroy our Country," Trump wrote. "These Deranged People, after fighting for 10 years, should finally acknowledge that your Favorite President (ME!), knows how to WIN! They should be exhausted by now but, sadly, they're not. They're going to give it one last shot at ruining America, but we're not going to let that happen. We're going to win the Midterms, BIG, and SAVE AMERICA! President DONALD J. TRUMP."

The message, circulated Monday as the United States observed the holiday, did not mention wages, unions, the 40-hour week or the industrial jobs that traditionally dominate Labor Day speeches. It did repeat language Trump has used all summer as Republicans try to define the midterms around ideology rather than the cost of living.

Two days earlier, kicking off the holiday weekend on Truth Social, he wrote: "The Radical Left Lunatics are trying to destroy our Country, but they have failed, and will never be successful, unless we allow that to happen — AND WE WON'T! We are going to WIN the Midterms, protect and cherish our Country, and make it GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE." In the same burst of posts he said his tariffs "have reset the Global Economy, bringing Manufacturing Jobs BACK to America," and he shared a White House item attacking Democrats for votes he said put "their dangerous agenda ahead of the American People."
