Dolly Parton, Country Music Icon, Has Died Aged 80

The legendary performer was known for hits including Jolene, 9 To 5 and I Will Always Love You.

The legendary singer-songwriter Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.

A pioneer in the world of country music, Dolly was best known for her cross-generational hits including I Will Always Love You, 9 To 5 and Jolene.

On Tuesday evening, her nephew Bryan Seaver announced the news of the Grammy winner’s death in a video message posted on social media, explaining that this was “something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality”.

“As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment, but haven’t truly felt it until now,” he shared.

“Sadness lies with us, not with Dolly,” he continued.........
