Q: I am a retired 74-year-old widow living in San Antonio and I own a townhouse with no mortgage. Do I need to buy a special insurance policy to protect my title? I cancelled LifeLock to save money, and I have frozen my credit reports at all three agencies. Now I am worried about someone stealing my home by title theft.

A: Some Texas counties offer free notification services which alert you to any activity involving your property title. Fortunately for you, Bexar County is one of those. Galveston and Tarrant counties do as well, but Harris and Travis do not (or if they do, I couldn't find it).
