Why businesses need to take pride in EDI policies

Pride is both a protest and a celebration, representing the ongoing fight for LGBTQ rights and equality, while also celebrating identity and community.

This year’s Pride celebrations come at a time of socio-political uncertainty in Scotland, with most events taking place in June (Pride month) but Glasgow hosts its march in July, this year tomorrow (July 19). With so much recent politicisation of identity, risk averse employers may be tempted to shy away from diversity, equality, and inclusivity celebrations – but this is actually a great time to check-in on your workplace culture to make sure you are fulfilling legal obligations for everyone.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policies and practices aren’t just a “tick box exercise” for businesses – they can promote better decision-making, attract talent, prevent serious legal troubles, improve productivity and build a culture of respect.........
