Forget Cartwheel, who was Meredith Kercher, the girl at centre of Amanda Knox show?

Amanda Knox’s Cartwheel, being performed onstage at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, has been hitting headlines since it was first announced.

An online search of Meredith Kercher’s name brings up countless reviews of Knox’s show, showing very little of who Kercher was and what happened to her. Aside from those who followed the trial in 2007 or present-day true crime junkies, not much of the public know what really happened almost twenty years ago.

Amid Knox’s journey to reclaim the miscarriage of justice that stole her twenties, and amongst the noisy battle between whether Cartwheel is justified or inappropriate, we’re losing sight of a tragedy that saw a young woman’s life taken. Knox might be here to tell her story, but Meredith Kercher is not.

Cartwheel is not the first time that Knox has reclaimed her story, nor is it the first time her story has been documented for an audience. Luckily for those fascinated by Cartwheel, Knox boasts a collection of on-screen documentaries exploring her case, memoirs, and a DisneyPlus drama following the events after........
