In Jammu and Kashmir, a silent crisis is growing every day. Drug addiction is slowly stealing the future of our youth. What was once hidden is now clearly visible in our society. Many families are suffering in silence. In many homes, parents lie awake at night, worried about their children who have fallen into addiction.

Drug addiction, also known as Substance Use Disorder, is not just a bad habit. It is a serious health condition that affects the brain and behavior. A person who becomes addicted loses control and continues to use drugs even when they know the harm. According to the World Health Organization, addiction should be treated as a health issue and not only as a crime.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the scenario is very grave, where according to the statistics compiled by Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences in Srinagar, almost ten lakhs of the population suffers from the adverse effects of the usage of various substances including heroine, cannabis, and misuse of medicines.
