Kashmir’s education reckoning

A parliamentary panel has just flagged a secondary school dropout rate of 12.6 percent in Kashmir in 2024-25, even as enrolment collapses at every subsequent stage: from 114 percent at the primary level down to a mere 53.7 percent by higher secondary. 

But dropout numbers only capture half the crisis. The other half is the widespread unemployment. One factor is the technological disruption. The world these students are entering looks nothing like the one their curriculum was built for.........
