Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation as Education Minister, and the government’s decision to meet the other demands of the Cockroach Janta Party, marks a genuine victory for a movement that few expected to succeed. A protest that began at Jantar Mantar on June 20 and grew into a nationwide, youth-led reckoning over the NEET paper leak has forced the government to back down. Whatever one’s politics, this deserves to be called what it is: democracy working, however belatedly and however messily.
