Tamil Nadu alliance vs I.N.D.I.A bloc
As emergence of a new political front in down-south Tamil Nadu took a formal shape with the inclusion of the Congress. This new realignment of political forces in the southern state though having a regional character, is bound to have an impact on the national politics. The Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance (SSJVA) led by actor turned-politician chief minister Mr C Joseph Vijay’s new political formation Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) with Congress, though playing a second fiddle in the Tamil Nadu’s ruling alliance, as the pivot, makes it interesting.
The few months that Mr Vijay has been in power in Tamil Nadu after dislodging the powerful ruling DMK, is portrayal of a new era politician with a fresh outlook and unconventional ways of pursuing politics. Even in the governance, though it is a very short span to form view about his style of functioning, he has been exhibiting courage of abandoning the beaten tracks of traditional politics, set on a new path to strike a better rapport with public particularly the Gen Z in line with his image of a young super-star turned a political leader.
The floating of the new alliance has to be viewed in this backdrop. The fact that Congress, now sharing power in Tamil Nadu after six decades, has agreed to become part of it without any commitment or clear stand by Mr Vijay to join or not the I.N.D.I.A bloc at the national level, makes it both interesting as well complicated.
Did Congress leader Mr Rahul Gandhi jump the gun by abandoning DMK before the recently held........
