Macau Casino Magnate Chalks Up Gaming Success Over Bigger Rivals

To draw big spenders to its two casino resorts in Macau, MGM China Holdings launched a campaign last year offering players who wager HK$5,000 ($641) or more on side bets the chance to participate in a lucky draw to win a Rolex watch. In another promotion, players could redeem gaming points for the latest Labubu dolls from Chinese toy maker Pop Mart International Group that have sparked a global craze.

Such marketing ploys helped the Hong Kong-listed casino operator, run by chairperson and executive director Pansy Ho, 63, grab 16.1% of Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) over the first nine months of 2025, a tad higher than the previous year, according to Jeffrey Kiang, Hong Kong-based research analyst at CLSA.
