Artists turned this vacant L.A. hospital into an immersive art therapy session

At the Hospital of Emotions, international artists reimagined 80 medical rooms as a range of emotions.

Two medical staff members in white lab coats beckon, guiding us through the reception area of an abandoned Los Angeles hospital. Animated caricatures of personified emotions grace the walls. We sign in as patients and don orange hospital wristbands with the words, “Heal your heART. Who will you be when you leave?”

The “doctors” escort us to the first of four floors lined with rooms reimagined as 10 different emotions—from joy and love to sadness and anger. The designs incorporate........
