I don't have a career plan and my parents make me feel useless and stupid
Dear Janice,
I’m sixteen and feel like an out cast at home.
All my family graduated from university, mums’ a doctor, dad’s an engineer, my sister is a pharmacist, and my brother just qualified as a teacher, whereas I have only a few qualifications and am definitely not going on to further education.
My parents constantly hassle me about my future plans, but for now I honestly have no idea what they are, so I’m often lectured about the dangers of wasting my life if I don’t have a career plan.
Their constant pressure is making me feel inadequate, useless and stupid.
I’m not stupid, I just don’t know what I want to do with my life.
How can I get everyone to........© Evening Times
