Pakistan: Evolving Terror Landscape – OpEd

In the past recent days, an unexpected coalition has appeared among the various terrorist groups, including Fitnah alkhwarij, Jammat ul Ahrar, Lashkar-e-Islam,and Majlis-e-Askari Karwan.These organizations claim responsibility for a similar attack against security forces in Bara Khyber. This development is quite surprising and atypical of the prevalent terrorist landscape. Previously, fighting viciously over resources and control, these groups are now united under a unified agenda, ensuring survival amid a precise security-force response and crackdown. This alliance among these terrorist outfits underscores the changing landscape of terrorism in the region and the cumulative threat aimed at the emerging nexus of terrorist groups.

Traditionally, tensions remain high among these factions.  FAK, Lashkar-e-Islam, Majlis-e-Askari Karwan, and other terrorist groups have been involved in internal clashes over power distribution and seeking domination. Apart from this, the internal rift was also fueled by radical ideology, as these outfits declare each other as khwarij. By such tags, these groups blame each other for misinterpreting Islam and twisting its teachings. These tags and clashes........
