On 7 September 2026 Shavkat Mirziyoyev began a two-day official visit to Belgrade, building on Vučić’s 2025 trip to Tashkent (30 years of ties, a Joint Declaration, 11 agreements on investment, medicine, engineering, AI, and labor). Goods trade is still small: €37.7 million in 2025 (€23.6m Serbia → Uzbekistan, €14.1m the other way). FTA talks started in May 2026.

Practical bets: a first-of-its-kind (for Serbia) labor-mobility deal for Uzbek workers in construction, health, and services; three transport papers due 8 September, including Trans-Caspian links for doubly landlocked Uzbekistan; more work on engineering, agri, pharma, and IT.

Tourism and Expo: Uzbekistan hosted 11.7 million visitors in 2025 ( 46.8%) and 7.75 million in the first seven months of 2026 ( 22.6%). Serbs get 30-day visa-free entry; a 2025 tourism pact is in place; Uzbekistan will take part in Expo 2027 in Belgrade. Day two is expected to add more trade and transport deals.

On September 7, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Belgrade for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. At Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, the President and First Lady of Uzbekistan were received by the Serbian President and First Lady. Last year marked the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Serbia, and bilateral relations were significantly elevated following a visit by the Serbian president to Uzbekistan. The current visit comes as the two countries seek to build on that momentum and expand cooperation into new areas.
