Alternative school operating before planning decision sparks local concerns
The application, submitted in March 2025, seeks permission for the "change of use" of land west of Marsh Lane, Worlingham, near Beccles, for a school aimed at children with additional support needs.
According to the planning statement, the proposal was originally a "small-scale forest school for children with support needs", with around 10 pupils attending alongside staff as it operates four days a week.
However, neighbours and Worlingham Parish Council say the current level and nature of activity at the site do not reflect that description.

In a formal response, the parish council said "the applicant does not seem to be operating within a defined footprint", adding that the boundary of the site "needs to be made transparent".
It also raised concerns about highway safety, stating that "road safety continues to be a concern as does the volume of traffic which is occurring and is likely to increase further".
