Breakfasts remain in demand after cafe's first year

The Cow Shed Cafe opened inside a former barn on Place Farm in Stuston, a village near the Norfolk border, in January 2025.

Owner Hannah Laurie developed her plan to run the business following the death of her father, who owned the farm, in a way to honour his memory.

"We have had a great first year at The Cow Shed and it has been wonderful to meet so many amazing customers," said the owner.

"Each day is totally different with a mix of regulars, people who have been meaning to try us for ages and people who have stumbled across us."

The former cow shed was renovated to keep the industrial feel for the cafe and gave inspiration to the cafe's logo mascot, Snoop the cow.

It also uses the farm to source homegrown ingredients to include in dishes on the menu.

Ms Laurie added: "The breakfasts are most definitely our most popular dishes, and of course our amazing cheese scones, which many people simply pop in to get as a takeaway fix.

"Most days we are visited by dogs who come for a puppacino with their owners and to lay on the underfloor heating."

Other meals on the menu include chicken grain bowls, open sourdough toasties and jacket potatoes.

This year, Mrs Laurie is hoping to launch collaborative events at the site, including floristry, Pilates and upholstery.

The Cow Shed Cafe is open from 8am until 4.30pm Monday through Thursday, from 8am until 3pm on Friday, and on Saturday between 9.30am and 12.30pm.
