Anthony Soanes took his life with a long-barrelled revolver in the back garden of his family home on Station Road North in Belton on November 18, 2025. He was found by his wife slouched in a garden chair.

An inquest into his death at Norfolk Coroner's Court heard Mr Soanes had previously run Great Yarmouth Rifle and Pistol Club, in Ormesby St Margaret.

He was a licensed gun holder and his wife, Freda, told the hearing he had "regularly had access to the gun cabinet" as a club member.
