The Broads Authority has approved plans to convert The Waterworks, the former Anglian Water pumping station site on Low Road in Strumpshaw, into a site for agricultural storage.

Located 180m north of the RSPB Reserve at Strumpshaw Fen, the site contains four buildings, the original pumping station and a newer pumping station.

Accessed directly from Low Road, it also includes a workshop building, storage building and three open air water tanks.

The permitted building will be used for the storage of plant, machinery, crops or materials used for the purposes of agriculture.

The site was previously used by Anglian Water but its use has since ceased, leaving the buildings vacant.

The current site owner acquired the site in 2024.

It shares an access with two residential homes to the northeast of the access driveway.

An initial application to change the use of the site to storage, distribution and light commercial was amended following objections from Norfolk County Council Highways.

The plans were submitted by a Mr Berry.
