The landmark former Royal Court Hotel on London Road South in Kirkley, Lowestoft had stood empty for more than a decade until a major renovation project started in 2019.

But after being converted into 17 flats, refurbishment works have stopped as the building was condemned after failing to meet safety regulations.

News of the work being halted was revealed as the building was put up for auction.

A prohibition order from East Suffolk Council was issued on Lowestoft Court Apartments last year meaning renovations on the 17-flats building had to stop.

With the order "still in force" according to the council, the landmark building remains vacant as it emerged this week that it is now set to be auctioned off.

Now being offered for sale at auction on behalf of receivers, it is the latest blow for a substantial seaside property........
