Terry Butcher was back in Lowestoft this week to speak to youngsters and watch a football tournament on the school grounds close to where he used to practice in Fen Park.

The fifth annual Terry Butcher Cup took place at Red Oak Primary School in Kirkley, Lowestoft - the former Fen Park primary school that Mr Butcher attended in the 1960s.

The former Ipswich Town and England defender was made an honorary life ambassador of the school on Southwell Road five years ago.

A full school assembly on Tuesday morning saw Mr Butcher 'welcomed home' by pupils - just a day after England had sealed a place in the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals, where they will face Norway on Saturday evening.

Mr Butcher was given a hero's welcome as the children sang the national anthem to him with the Three Lions crest displayed.

He spoke to the children about his experiences of playing in three World Cups in 1982, 1986 and 1990, describing the altitude and challenges of playing in the Azteca Stadium in Mexico.

Mr Butcher then went around different classrooms conducting........
