Frances Brown, 46, said Salem was rushed to a veterinary practice in Holt after her daughter found a pellet lodged in his side.

The black cat, lives with the family on Marsh Lane in Wells, underwent surgery costing about £1,000 to remove the pellet, which was identified as an air rifle pellet.
