Norwich Greens in disarray as 'anti-Zionists' launch rebellion against their leader
Councillors have fallen out spectacularly in the aftermath of their party's widely condemned vote to declare Zionism - the belief in a Jewish homeland - as racist.
Critics have described the motion as an "attack on the Jewish community" and leader Lucy Galvin, Green leader at Norwich City Council, has spoken out against it.
However, she is facing a revolt from fellow Greens on the authority who support the vote.
One, Bliss Wylie, who represents Thorpe Hamlet, has launched an excoriating attack on councillor Galvin and called on her to step down, accusing her of being like the Confederates in the US Civil War.
The councillor has claimed several other Green councillors are also privately backing calls for the leader to quit, describing the size of the rebellion as “enough to rock the boat”.

The Greens currently have 21 seats at City Hall - a majority of one - after claiming control of the council for the first time in May.
But the party has been embroiled in a crisis since the Zionism vote at its national conference last weekend.
The motion has exposed a rift between the party’s old guard of traditional environmentalists and a surge of newer, younger members for whom Palestine is a defining cause.
