From April 9 to 12, the Market Place will be taken over by the event, which has been running for more than 100 years and sees Great Yarmouth Borough Council work in partnership with the Eastern Counties branch of the Showmen's Guild.

"Expect thrilling rides, colourful lights, traditional games and delicious treats – the perfect way to enjoy a fun day out with family and friends," a spokesman for Great Yarmouth Borough Council said.

"From candyfloss and doughnuts to rides that will get your heart racing, there’s something for everyone to enjoy."

The fair will be open until late at night for each day of the event and road closures will be in place in The Conge, The Market Place and Church Plain from midday on April 8.

As in previous years, the two-day market will be cancelled while the fair is in town and Great Yarmouth Borough Council is providing traffic control and medical cover for the duration of the event.
