Plans to demolish village's 'obsolete' concrete houses to make way for new homes

Freebridge Community Housing has applied to knock down the so-called Airey properties at Methwold, near Thetford.

A planning statement says the concrete houses, on Herbert Drive, are classed as "defective" and do not meet modern standards.

It adds: "The proposal seeks to replace this obsolete housing stock with high quality, energy efficient homes that respond positively to local character and housing need."

Some 13 affordable rented properties will be built on the site, including a mixture of one, two and three........
