Gardeners dig in over plot to turn their allotments into homes
Plot holders fear for the future of the Angles Lane Allotments at Burnham Market, which is one of six sites around the second homes honeypot which have been suggested for development.
The treasured green space to the south of the village was included in the consultation over West Norfolk Council's next neighbourhood plan, which will map out land earmarked for future housing.
Retired secretary Kay Howlett, 65, who has been a tenant on the site for six years, said: "We're all really put out by it. I've got two plots, both with polytunnels on, so I've invested a lot.

"It's a really good community and at a time when money's tight and the price of produce is going through the roof you'd think they'd be encouraging allotments, not closing them down.
"It becomes a way of life, I'm here every day. And we've already got enough houses in Burnham Market, last time I looked there were 38 properties up for sale."
