Hempnall Parish Council contacted Norfolk Constabulary about the tactics being used by officers working on the East Pye project, which would see one of Britain's biggest solar plants built around the village.

Councillors acted after being contacted by villagers who were alarmed at the way they were told their homes may be required for the scheme and that their properties could be compulsorily purchased.

Phil Bates, who sits on Hempnall Parish Council, said: “Those people feel quite threatened because no one has knocked on their door. Some of those people are very scared and very worried.”

At least 24 properties received letters from Dalcour Maclaren - the agent acting on behalf of developer Island Green Power - saying they may be compulsorily purchased. Some also received phone calls.
