Meet the Norwich firm that's stopping leaks and scooping awards
Since 2003, Norwich-based Diamond Controls has been helping clients get on top of leaks before they become a much bigger problem.
The company is a specialist in leak detection systems, supporting clients from initial design and installation through to ongoing service and maintenance.
It recently won the Medium Business of the Year award, sponsored by MAD-HR, at the EDP Business Awards 2025.
“Winning Medium Business of the Year was a huge honour and a proud moment for the business,” said managing director Iain Ames. “It reflects the strong foundations built over the past 20 years and the commitment to excellence shown across every area of our operations.
“Most importantly, this award belongs to our team,” he added. “Every individual has played a part in our success, and we are proud to share this recognition with everyone.”
For more than 20 years, Diamond Controls has supported the commercial, industrial and residential sectors, with a team of engineers working across East Anglia, London and the South East.
“We are proud to have installed leak detection systems and trace heating in some of the most prestigious buildings in the UK, such as 30 Grosvenor Square and The Shard in London,” said Iain.
The firm installs automatic leak detection systems in areas such as boiler and plant rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, data centres and warehouses.

There are two main types of water leak detection system.
One monitors water use and flow in the mains supply to quickly spot major leaks and automatically shut off the water.
The other detects smaller, local leaks using sensors or cables in specific areas, sending an alert when water is detected so the leak can be checked.
Diamond Controls also provides trace heating products including frost protection for pipes, roof and gutter heating, temperature maintenance systems and critical access stairways and ramps.
“These products prevent damage from adverse weather conditions, which can create unnecessary costs, downtime and wastage, while mitigating potential safety issues,” Iain explained.
He believes Diamond Controls stands out from the competition in several areas.
“Our strengths lie in our people-focused culture, dynamic leadership and clear long-term vision,” he said. “We combine technical expertise with a solutions-led approach, backed by ongoing investment in our team, infrastructure and product innovation.
“Customer service is incredibly important to us – and it’s one of the reasons we’ve become a market leader in our sector.”

The business recently launched a product accreditation scheme called Leak Logic as part of an ongoing commitment to elevate industry standards and help clients find the best products.
“When clients use products from our approved range, they can be assured they’ve been thoroughly tested for accuracy, sensitivity, durability and longevity,” said Iain.
“They will also comply with industry regulations and be proven for environmental and safety performance.”
Over the past two years, Diamond Controls has extended both its service offering and team.
“Key developments include expanding our service and maintenance offering to support all manufacturers’ systems and launching Trace Heating Supplies, our supply-only and e-commerce division,” said Iain.
“Identifying gaps in the market has allowed us to expand into gas detection systems, specialist trace heating products and contractor training, strengthening client relationships in the process.”
In December 2024, the company relocated to a £1.2m facility in Norwich, providing significantly increased office and warehouse space, dedicated training areas and improved operational efficiency.
It is now looking to accelerate its gas detection offering, expand the e-commerce range and strengthen its presence in specialist sectors.
“Our focus is on continued growth through new markets, product innovation and service expansion,” said Iain.
