It is great for Exeter City to be back to our winning ways

It was great to get back to winning ways against Shrewsbury on Saturday.
And while print deadlines dictate that I’m writing this column ahead of Tuesday night’s game at home to Mansfield, touch wood by the time you read this we’ll have made it two wins on the bounce.
Regardless of how we fared against the Stags, our situation is beginning to look an awful lot better than it did a few weeks ago.
Having gone almost three months without a clean sheet in the league, we’ve now had three in five games which, as you might imagine, has led to a significant upturn in results.
Indeed, since I last put pen to paper, we’ve not only beaten Shrewsbury 2-0, but drawn 0-0 at play-off contenders Reading, in a game we really ought to have won given the chances we created.
Unfortunately, I didn’t make it to my old stomping ground at the Madejski Stadium last Tuesday evening. However, watching on Sky, I thought we matched Noel Hunt’s side in the first half and were much the better side after the interval when we passed up two or three good opportunities to break the deadlock.
Our best chance of the evening fell to Ryan Trevittt, after Josh Magennis headed the ball to him on the edge of the six-yard box. Ryan’s blessed with great technical ability and nine times out of 10 he’d have thumped the ball into the back of the net.........
