India Poses Perennial Threat to Regional Peace

Notwithstanding the fact that India suffered humiliating drubbing when it committed the indiscretion of attacking Pakistan in May last year and its failure to establish any Pakistani link to the terrorist acts at Pulwama and Pahalgam, the Indian leaders both civil and military continue to push their narrative of Pakistan sponsoring terrorism in India and indulging in bellicose blustering against Pakistan. The latest statement by the Indian chief of army staff Upendra Dwivedi that Pakistan must stop harboring terrorists or face severe consequences and that it would have to decide whether it wants to remain a ‘part of geography or history’ is quintessential of the frustration the Indian leaders are enduring after their military defeat as well as the continuation of their threatening posture towards Pakistan and regional peace. Only a person out of his mind can hurl such a threat at a nuclear power entertaining the illusion that such an indiscretion would not lead to mutual destruction. One tends to wonder at his naivety regarding the fact that Pakistan’s nuclear prowess is India specific and if India ever commits the indiscretion of harming Pakistan it would do so at its own peril.

Pakistan Army in a statement through ISPR has befittingly responded to the loose cannon like behavior of the Indian Army chief by reiterating that threatening a sovereign nuclear neighbour with elimination from “geography” was not strategic signaling or brinkmanship; it was sheer bankruptcy of cognitive capacities, madness and warmongering despite knowing the reality that such geographic obliteration would certainly be mutual and comprehensive.
