For a while there, it seemed as if conservative commentator and former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino wanted to rise as high as he could in the Republican Party. He ran unsuccessfully for the Senate and the House in three straight cycles — in two different states — before settling into a career in podcasting in the first Trump term. But last year, upon reaching a position of real power as the deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bongino made it quite clear that he was not enjoying the responsibilities of his station. “People ask all the time, ‘Do you like it?’ No, I don’t,” he said last May on Fox News. “I gave up everything for this.”

At least now he has his “everything” back. On Monday morning, Bongino hosted his podcast for the first time in eight months, which is how long he stayed at the FBI.
