Things to Know About the (Shocking) Death of Lindsey Graham
Very early Sunday morning, reports confirmed that Lindsey Graham, the well known longtime Republican U.S. Senator from South Carolina, had suddenly died at the age of 71. While many have wondered what is happening with the health of Graham’s hospitalized older colleague, Mitch McConnell, no one had any reason to be concerned about Graham, and his death came as a shock across Washington D.C. and throughout the political world. Here are several things to know.
. He apparently had a sudden heart attack
Nobody saw this coming, and there was some initial confusion after Graham’s office announced he died “from a brief and sudden illness,” but subsequent reports indicate he likely had a heart attack. Per NBC News:
Emergency personnel responded to a call for “cardiac arrest” at Graham’s Capitol Hill home on Saturday night, according to police scanner audio obtained by NBC News. EMS audio later indicated CPR was in progress. Photographs from the scene reviewed by NBC News show paramedics carrying a person on a stretcher from Graham’s home to an awaiting ambulance. Police cars and fire trucks were also on site.A top staffer to Graham told NBC News early Sunday that there was no indication the lawmaker was feeling unwell prior to his death.
