First look at £170m regeneration project 'perfect for the entry into the city centre'

Newly released images depict the potential transformation of Newcastle City Centre, courtesy of a £170m development project featuring a hotel, housing, bars and restaurants. The revamped plans for the former Premier Inn Hotel in Newcastle were initially unveiled last month at Mipim, the world's largest real estate conference. The plans have prompted a mixed response from Chronicle Live readers.

The New Bridge Project, as it is known, is being led by property, care and leisure company Gainford Group. The group originally acquired the old Premier Inn in 2019 with plans to convert it into a new hotel. However, these plans were put on hold during the pandemic and have since been drastically revised, with architects FaulknerBrowns brought in to create new designs.
