It was tragic. The only water was the tears. They streamed down the cheeks of our dear Catalan friend. The giant inferno in central Spain was at the door of her home near Madrid. A national emergency had been declared. Tens of thousands had been forced to flee. The incredibly brave fire-fighters were unable to contain it.

Work had taken our friend and her Spanish husband to the capital. She never expected such trauma and loss. Yet, it is brutally clear we must all fear it now more than ever. Thank goodness she and her young children were here with her mother.

The risk of worldwide wildfires is rocketing, as must countermeasures.
