This case forces an uncomfortable, unavoidable issue to the fore, namely, why are child molesters given apparent free reign to menace mostly working class children?

It also demands new examination of what is or isn't self-defense or vigilantism. The shooter is the uncle of nieces who were allegedly propositioned by a meth-smoking pedophile. Police reported a pattern of similar complaints involving this man. I hasten to add, were this an upper income area with the same suspect, would a concerned resident who challenged him have been arrested?

The shooter's wife said on-camera her husband acted in self-defense. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that a drug-using child molester became aggressive when challenged by a male family member. It's in this context that a grand jury could have been convened to determine whether deadly force was justified. Alas, that wasn't the case. The shooter is being held without bond in jail. Police suspect he was the greater villain on that day.

Either the shooter committed a bad act with good intentions, preemptively protecting his nieces and other girls, or he defended himself against a community traitor who threatened him for calling out perversion.

Had this happened while an unmentionable sexual assault was taking place, local authorities would have hailed him as a hero. Reasonable people don't want girls attacked as the only grounds for stopping attackers. This case bears extremely close scrutiny. Either the shooter was valiant, and justified, or in a fit of righteous indignation, became a greater villain than who he faced.
