Signals from Takaichi-Trump summit: Japan’s ties with US set to grow further

It is assuring to learn that Japan is now ready to ‌ensure a safe passage for commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz. It is believed that in her first visit as Japan’s prime minister to Oval House the other day, Sanae Takaichi and US President Donald J Trump, came to concur to maintain close communication between Japan and the USA for preserving peace and stability in the Middle East. Premier Takaichi stated that “Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.” Japan also   condemned Iran’s recent closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

It is well known that the contemporary world is crucially dependent on oil and liquid natural gas supply through the Strait of Hormuz. Japan itself imports almost all its energy and about 95 per cent of its oil........
