What Quebec-based employers should know about province’s workplace sexual violence prevention regulation

Starting in 2027, Quebec-based employers will be required to build on existing obligations to prevent sexual violence in the workplace, says Sarah-Émilie Dubois, senior associate in the employment and labour group at Dentons Canada LLP.

“The regulation is now stating what an employer has to do. . . . They need to have a writing document about sexual violence [and] after that, they have to provide training and they have to put in place a procedure for the reporting of those [violent events].”

The province is asking employers to begin building these materials and will officially require them beginning May 27, 2027, followed by mandatory employee training requirements starting in 2028.
